The low end for small stumps reflects favorable practitioner accounts involving capable equipment, sharp teeth, and shallow target depths. The higher professional ranges generally assume more substantial grinding below grade and allow for ordinary variation in wood, roots, and site conditions.

The factors that make the same-size stump faster or slower

Diameter and total wood volume are the starting variables, but they do not operate alone. A useful estimate considers the following factors.
